Emission Test Repairs

Emission Repair in Homewood, IL

The Illinois Air Team Vehicle Emissions Testing Program exists to keep our state's air clean for generations to come.

In adherence with the Clean Air Act amendments of 1990, the emissions testing program is required in areas that do not meet federal air quality standards. Most passenger vehicles within Northeastern Illinois and the Metro-East St. Louis areas must undergo testing as part of the Act.

If your vehicle is registered in an area that requires an emissions test, it is required to have its first test after it turns four years old. It is then required to be tested every two years after that. For example, a car manufactured in 2010 will have it's first test in 2014. Afterward, it will need to be tested in 2016, 2018, 2020, and so on. To legally drive on the road, your vehicle must pass the test.
